Dr. Wan Du is looking for highly motivated students with strong research interests to pursue a Ph.D. degree in computer systems, including Internet of Things (IoT) systems, wireless networking, data analytics and mobile computing (e.g., machine learning on smartphones). Full scholarship in the form of research and/or teaching assistantships will be provided to cover the studying (tuition fees) and living expenses. Students with strong experimental or theoretical background in computer science, software, and electrical engineering are encouraged to apply. Multiple positions are available until filled. Dr. Wan Du is now an assistant professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in the University of California at Merced. He has been doing active research on IoT systems. His representative research projects include a water quality monitoring system in urban reservoirs, IoT systems on smartphones, etc. He is also working on some data analytics projects for urban computing. More than 20 papers have been published in reputed conferences like ACM MobiCom, ACM SenSys, ACM/IEEE IPSN and IEEE INFOCOM; and journals like IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking and IEEE Transactions on Mobile. He received the best paper award in ACM SenSys 2015 and the best demo award in IEEE SECON 2014. He also received the Distinguished TPC member award in IEEE INFOCOM 2018.
