Dr. Wan Du is looking for a PhD student with strong research interests in Internet of Things (IoT) systems, including Low Power Wide Area Networking and Edge Computing (e.g., machine learning on mobile devices). Full scholarship in form of research and/or teaching assistantships will be offered to cover the studying (tuition fees) and living expenses. The University of California, Merced (UC Merced) is the tenth and newest of the University of California campuses. UC Merced was tied for 44th "Top Public School" and tied for 104th in the list of "Best National Universities" in the U.S. by U.S. News & World Report's 2020 rankings.

Dr. Wan Du is now an assistant professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at UC Merced. He has been conducting active research on IoT systems. His papers have been published in reputed conferences like ACM SenSys, ACM MobiCom, ACM/IEEE IPSN and IEEE INFOCOM; and journals like IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing and IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications. He received the best paper award in ACM SenSys 2015 and the best demo award in IEEE SECON 2014. He also received the Distinguished TPC member award in IEEE INFOCOM 2018.
